Hi from Helena

April 20, 2017

The Montana Senate is closing in on the conclusion of our work, with a balanced budget sent back to the House, and soon to go to our Governor. With revenues slowed due to commodities markets, Montana is tightening its belt in the coming biennium.

Our priorities have included significantly reforming our criminal justice system to ensure that our dollars are spent effectively, and that we focus cost effective resources on things that work to make our communities safer. That often includes addressing mental health and addiction issues of some of the offenders. I carried bills to expand our treatment courts, which have proven to be equally as effective as residential treatment with helping offenders make amends to society, while remaining in the community to keep their jobs and support their families.

I enjoy hearing from my constituents so please feel free to reach out to me.

Back Home in Billings!

We are citizen lawmakers in Montana which means that I am home in Billings, for the most part, except for periodic interim committee meetings in Helena. You can call me at 652-6625 and leave a message. I like to hear how laws that we pass make a difference or impact you. I also like to hear your ideas on how to make our communities stronger and better. I will be attending community meetings and events to keep my ear to the ground for the needs of our neighborhoods and city. Please come up and say "Hello" when you see me around town.
